Can I book a flight for an unaccompanied minor?

Unaccompanied minor travel is subject to airline approval, and the booking process is time-sensitive. Here's how it works and what you must do on the day you book.

You can't book an unaccompanied minor directly on our website, and the process is time-sensitive. It starts on the day you book — please read this before booking anything.

The short version

  1. Book one adult and the child on the same booking.

  2. Contact us on live chat the same day you book — this step is essential.

  3. We check availability and requirements with the airline.

  4. If the airline approves, we convert the booking to an unaccompanied minor booking and refund the adult ticket.

Booking this way does not guarantee approval. Please read the full process below before you book.

Why you can't book it on our website

Unaccompanied minor travel is a special service that each airline controls. Every carrier sets its own age limits, eligible routes, fees, documentation requirements and approval process — and some don't accept unaccompanied minors at all.

Our booking form can't check those rules at the point of sale, so it requires at least one adult passenger on every booking. You cannot book a child travelling alone on our website.

That's why the process below exists.

Step 1 — Book one adult and the child

Make the booking as normal, with one adult passenger plus the child travelling. Your payment plan works exactly as it usually does.

Choose the flights the child will actually travel on — this is the itinerary we'll take to the airline.

Step 2 — Contact us on live chat the same day

This is the most important step, and it's time-limited.

Message us on live chat on the same calendar day you make the booking, with:

  • Your booking reference

  • The child's full name and date of birth exactly as they appear on their passport

  • That you need the booking converted to an unaccompanied minor booking

Why the same day matters: the refund of the adult ticket relies on our same-day cooling-off window. If you contact us on the day you booked, we can secure a refund of the adult ticket. If you contact us after that day, the adult ticket falls under the airline's standard fare rules — which on most fares means it is non-refundable, and you'll have paid for a seat nobody travels on.

Please don't book late in the evening and message us the following day, and please don't wait for a reply to an email. Live chat, same day.

Step 3 — We check with the airline

Once you've contacted us, we confirm with the airline:

  • Whether they accept unaccompanied minors on your route and travel dates

  • The child's age against that airline's unaccompanied minor age range

  • The airline's service fee

  • What documentation and handover arrangements are required at departure and arrival

We'll come back to you with written confirmation either way. Please don't contact the airline directly — we hold your booking as the travel agent, and they'll refer you back to us.

Step 4 — If the airline approves

We'll:

  • File the unaccompanied minor service request against the booking

  • Cancel the adult ticket

  • Send you an updated confirmation

  • Tell you what you and the receiving adult need to do at the airport

Important: booking this way does not guarantee approval

Making the booking does not secure the unaccompanied minor service. Approval sits with the airline, and we can't override it. We will always ask, and we'll tell you the outcome in writing or if there's additional unaccompanied minor fees that will be payable ontop of your payment plan

Before you book, please check

  • The child's age. Airlines apply their own minimum and maximum ages for unaccompanied minor travel, and the rules differ between carriers.

  • Connecting flights. Many airlines won't accept unaccompanied minors on itineraries with connections, overnight layovers, or flights operated by a different carrier.

  • Travel documents. The child will need their own valid passport and any visa required for the route.

If you're unsure about any of these, message us before you book and we'll check what's possible for your route first.

FAQs

Can I just book the child on their own? No. Our booking form requires at least one adult passenger. Booking the child alone isn't possible, and there's no way around this on the website.

What if I don't contact you on the same day? We'll still do everything we can, but the adult ticket refund depends on the same-day window. After that day it's subject to the airline's fare rules, and on most fares that means it can't be refunded.

Can I contact you by email instead? Please use live chat for this. Email doesn't move fast enough for a same-day window.

Is there a fee for the unaccompanied minor service? Airlines charge their own fee, which varies by carrier and route. We'll confirm the amount when we come back to you which will be payable upfront.

Which airlines allow unaccompanied minors? It varies, and it can also vary by route with the same airline. Message us with where and when you'd like the child to travel and we'll check.
