Can I change passenger details after booking?

Sometimes you may need to update passenger details on your booking. We understand that mistakes happen.

Written by Jett

PayLater Travel holds your booking with the airline, so we submit passenger detail corrections on your behalf. You cannot make this change yourself, and the airline will not action a request that comes directly from you on an agency booking — please come to us and we'll handle it.

Any change is subject to the airline's own policies, which we cannot modify or influence. PayLater Travel does not charge additional service fees for these changes — only fees set by the airline apply.

Important: Most airlines do not allow full name changes or ticket transfers once a booking is confirmed. Minor corrections of up to three letters are often permitted, sometimes for a fee, provided the itinerary does not involve other airlines.

Name corrections on flight bookings

Name corrections are generally possible but require specific documentation, may attract fees, and must be requested within airline timelines. PayLater Travel handles the request in coordination with the airline. All name correction requests are subject to final approval by the airline.

If your flight departs within 48 hours, tell us straight away and put URGENT in your message. We will contact the airline on priority. Do not contact the airline yourself — because we hold the booking, they will refer you back to us and you will lose time.

How to request a change

Send us the following, and our team will take it from there:

  1. Your PLT booking reference (e.g. PLT1234567)

  2. The passenger name exactly as it appears on the booking now

  3. Exactly what needs to change — and if it is a date of birth or document number rather than a name, say so

  4. A clear PDF or photo of the passport or government-issued photo ID, plus any supporting certificate from the table below

You can send this by replying to your existing email or chat conversation with us — whichever channel you are already using. There is no separate form to complete.

We will confirm receipt, tell you the airline's fee position before anything is charged, and keep you updated until the airline responds.

Process and timeline

  1. Request submitted — you send us the details and documents above.

  2. We review — we check the documentation is complete and confirm the airline's fee position with you.

  3. Airline review — we submit the request to the airline. Approval is at the airline's discretion.

  4. Processing time — typically up to 7 days, depending on the airline and the complexity of the request. Complete, legible documents provided upfront are the single biggest factor in speeding this up.

We will tell you when the request has actually been submitted to the airline, and again when the airline responds.

Fees

Airlines treat a passenger detail change as a "change" and may charge for it. We will give you a full breakdown of costs before proceeding, and nothing is charged without your agreement.

  • Airline name correction fees: vary by airline and ticket class

  • PayLater Travel service fees: none — only airline fees apply

If you booked today

If you spot an error shortly after booking, cancelling and rebooking with the correct details is sometimes cheaper than a correction fee, and same-day bookings can often be voided without penalty with the deposit refunded. This is time-critical — contact us immediately and we will check whether the void window is still open on your booking. Please do not cancel anything yourself before speaking to us.

If a correction is not permitted

Some fares cannot be corrected at all. If the airline refuses, we will tell you what your options are on your specific ticket, including whether it is refundable or can be changed to a different date. We will not leave you without an answer.

We're here to help

Airline approval is mandatory for all name corrections, and the airline holds the final decision. What we control is getting your request in front of them properly documented and quickly — that is our job, not yours.
