Can I select my seats?

Seat Allocation for Passengers

When you book with PayLater Travel, passengers listed on the same booking are typically recognized by airlines as traveling together. As a result, airlines generally aim to allocate adjacent seats for such groups. For bookings involving children, airlines prioritize seating them with at least one adult from their group to ensure safety and comfort.

However, because PayLater Travel holds your booking with the airline, prior to you completing your payment plan, seat requests come through us — just tell us what you need and we'll arrange it with the airline.

How to request seats

Message us with your booking reference and what you'd like — specific seats, or simply that you need to be seated together. You can do this at any time, before or your payment plan is complete. You don't need to wait until the booking is paid off.

We'll request the seats with the airline and confirm back to you with any applicable fees.

Seating with passengers who can't sit alone, or for medical and mobility needs

Tell us if any of these apply — these are seating requirements, not preferences, and we'll flag them to the airline as such:

  • You're travelling with children, or with anyone who cannot sit alone

  • Someone in your party has a mobility need — for example, needing to be close to the aircraft door or the toilets

  • There's a medical reason a particular seat won't work

  • You're travelling with an infant on your lap, or need a bassinet

Airlines do generally try to seat groups together, and most aim to seat children with an adult.

After your e-ticket is issued

Once your payment plan is complete and your e-ticket has been issued, airlines will let you manage seats yourself through their website using your booking reference.

If you can't find the right reference — ask us and we'll either send you the airline's record locator.

Seats you've already paid for when there's a flight change

If the airline changes your flight, paid seat selections don't always carry across to the new one. Tell us what you'd paid for and we'll either re-request it or arrange a refund for it.

Availability and fees

Seat selection isn't guaranteed on every booking — it depends on the airline and your fare type. Where an airline doesn't offer advance seat selection, seats are usually assigned at online check-in (typically 24–48 hours before departure) or at the airport.

Some airlines charge for advance seat selection, or for specific seats such as extra legroom or preferred locations. PayLater Travel doesn't add any fee of its own — only the airline's cost is passed on to you.

Airline seat fees must be paid upfront and can't be added to your existing payment schedule.
